Was running late to work par usual, when I walked into the Time & Life building only to find it blocked off. Annoyed I was unable to get up to my floor, I noticed one or two photogs roaming about and checking their flashes. Next thing we knew, several cars pulled up on the 110 51st entrance and out of the limo strides First Lady Laura Bush looking resplendent in a red suit couldn't say if it was Oscar de la Renta, her designer du jour). Laura did the appropriate half wave to the crowd before entering the second elevator bank (the one to my floor) to give some speech on some cause.

I spy with my little eye Susan Sarandon in the checkout line at Wholefoods on 25th and 7th.

Saw Paul "I was robbed of an Oscar nomination - Damn you, Clint Eastwood," Giamatti at City Bakery today. He was chatting it up with two friends of his. Looked casual in a down jacket and jeans. Very happy and upbeat although he was flagrantly snubbed by the Academy.

I was with a friend at lunch on Tuesday having the tropical hot chocolate at City Bakery and who should walk in, but the shafted man himself, Paul Giamatti of Sideways fame. He was sitting with a couple of friends and looked around the room frequently, presumably trying to get a glimpse of recognition from anyone, as he is no doubt traumatized by the obviously blind and inept higher-than-thou-Academy.

I just came back from lunch at Osteria Laguna on East 42nd street. Bonnie Fuller and three unidentified ladies were at the next table. It's a noisy restaurant so I couldn't overhere any juicy gossip about Brad/Jen or what celebs are getting married in the near future- but I can report that Bonnie had a big (I mean giant) bracelet on and was wearing a black Gucci cardigan.... Fascinating I know.

Saw Harvey Weinstein and Joan Rivers (not together) at the Thursday night preview of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I know it's been said a million times, but man, has Joan had a lot of work done. Her face is totally immobile and she looked like she came out of Tales from the Crypt. Happy Halloween.

Was walking down 5th Avenue, across from the main NY Library location, yesterday evening (2/2) and saw the ugliest old woman I have ever seen. She was barking orders to her group of minions who looked like they were doing a photo shoot. As I got closer, I realized that the old woman was none other than Karl Lagerfield and he looks as if he is 510 years old.

today (2/2), i saw karl lagerfield in washington square park. he had a huge posse with him, including a man who was walking around using a laptop (which looks even dumber than it sounds). he was wearing big black hooker boots and taking pictures of the arch.

saw joe zee (w's fashion editor?) on the f this morning. got on at 23rd street...got off at 34th. glad to see a fashionista commuting via subway like a normal person.

I saw Juliana Margulies twice in one day yesterday. Once was at lunchtime outside the Apple store, with a gentleman who was talking to her loudly about a female acquaintance. She was pretty short, wearing a long tan suede coat with fur trim, jeans, and her hair in a ponytail. I saw her again after work around 5:30 at the H&M on Prince and Broadway with the same guy from before. I think she's stalking me.

saw Macaulay Culkin of Home Alone fame at the New York Players Club poker room on the Upper West Side Monday. He's short and probably weighs about 70 lbs. But he was holding his own in a no-limit poker tournament.

Sunday night (monday morning?) about midnight, 6th Avenue/11th spotted a middle aged man chatting with a middle aged woman on the sidewalk. Thing is...this middle aged man was John Waters! He looked surprisingly "normal," as did his companion.

Daryl Hannah and her Jackson Browne-lookalike friend (I think he might be famous) walking their dog at last weekend's Chelsea flea markets. She looks great! Friend was explaining to her that its cold in New York because its an island and the river runs past it. Wow, mystery solved!

Dermot Mulroney, handsome, but wee, and sporting surprisingly salt-and-pepperish hair and a gaggle of hangers-on. Do I get bonus points because I saw him on the eve of the opening of his new Debra Messing vehicle (if there can be such a thing), "The Wedding Date"? Sighting 2: Mike Myers, baby! Also looking wee, and sporting a ridiculous faux-fur hat with earflaps. Both gents seemed smiley and cool, though.

Last night at 9 P.M., after the La La La Human Steps performance, saw Lou Reed striding through the crowd with a small (and much younger) entourage in tow, all making a beeline for his chauffeured car across the street. L. Anderson was nowhere to be seen, perhaps home preparing for her own BAM performance later this month... I vaguely recall that others have seen Lou out and about this season in white moon boots, and sure enough, he had them on last night. Words fail to express, however, how truly gi-normous the things are, especially on his lanky frame—yet somehow they fail to diminish his coolness. Wanted to ask him how he really felt about the performance's musical accompaniment: the lyrics from the first VU album "abstracted" into a wispy, monotonous dirge; perhaps his failure to stay for the post-show dialogue indicates something? Or maybe Laurie just had a meatloaf in the oven?

Just stepped outside for a cigarette and marvelled at the bad taste of the Trump Tower. There's a huge banner with Trump's face that says "YOU'RE FIRED" in giant letters. Just the thing all us proles should have to look at every day. Then who should walk out but The Don himself! Some worker guys yelled "ayyyy Donald!" and he waved before stepping into his limo. His hair, as can be expected, looked terrible even from across the street.

Saw Howard Stern at the upstairs level of meatpacking district's Vento Trattoria on Saturday night about 10:00. He was enjoying the good food and drinks at a birthday party for someone in his group (possibly for him? He opened a nudie calendar and proudly flipped through each month...) Kept escorting his sexy-in-a-cheesy-kinda way, not wearing much, Beth "The Body" girlfriend to the bathroom. The man is TALL TALL TALL. We were told a woman dropped a note on his table that said "my tits would look great on your show."

Saw Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) on the bottom floor of the Viacom building looking fit and hot. Would it be considered "statutory" to have sex with that fine woman who labels herself "Baby"? (1/25)

While waiting for the uptown E train on the 14th street platform, I watched Parker Posey and her guypal waiting for the uptown A train: today, tuesday, 02.01.05; 6:15pm. I guess she was on her way to her play. She's tiny! and reminds me of a Geraldine Chaplin. Terrible hair. [Ed: pretty sure the hair has to do with her 'Hurleyburly' character.]

Saw Nora from Project Runway at the Rated X Panty Party at Opaline this Saturday 1/29. Looked exactly like she did on the show, cute hair & really, really tiny. Wished I had seen Austin Scarlet instead.

Last Sunday Gina Gershon was exiting the OUTSIDER ART SHOW at the Puck Building just as I was entering. She had bought some art, but it was all bubble-wrapped up so I don't know what creative gem is now in her possession. Actually, my boyfriend gets credit for this sighting, as I really didn't know who she was. I think he got a little thrill.

My sister and I were enjoying the lovely weather on Sunday afternoon and bright sunshiney warmth on our backs........chatting about "whatever" when at about a block away, coming toward us, I see the back lit silhouette of who I immediately knew was the oooooooh so handsome Gabriel Byrne strolling up Park Avenue at 58th street. After saying the words "Gabriel Byrne! Gabriel Byrne! Gabriel Byrne!" in an effort to seize the moment, and cut my sister off from what she was saying, I finally got her to acknowledge that it was, indeed, him.

Spied Rue McClanahan from Golden Girls eating and drinking at the bar at Circo on 55th Street last night! It was good to see old Blanche out and about.

Saw Parker Posey at Veselka in the East Village looking cute as a button, despite my assumption that she was borrowing Diana Ross's wig for the day. I couldn't decide whether to ask her for comp tix to Hurly Burly or to awkwardly quote Waiting for Guffman ("I'd like to meet some guys, maybe some Italian guys...or watch tv and stuff"), so I chose to buy a rice krispie treat and gawk admiringly instead.

famke janssen (or however you spell her name) was walking down the stairs of the apple store as I was ascending. the geeky hordes totally didn't notice her, in spite of the fact that she had a brown French bulldog on a leash. she was wearing tight jeans tucked into tall boots - I will kill myself if this is a trend I have to follow.

2/2 - Saw Metallica's own Lars Ulrich aimlessly walking up and down Hudson for a half hour chatting on his cell phone. Perhaps talking to his therapist.

I was at dinner last night at Eleven Madison Park at the obscenely early hour of 5:30—I think all Restaurant Week reservations were for 5:30—and behind me was a table set for about ten people. Wasn't I surprised to see none other than Henry Winkler, aka the lawyer on Arrested Development aka The Fonz, sit down at said table with a large group of (mostly younger) women and one other man? I believe that they were *not* ordering from the Restaurant Week menu. He must be in town for the Happy Days Thirty Year Reunion.

saw chris meloni today (2/3) on 6th avenue, off of king street. they are filming law and order so i guess it's not too shocking. he looks damn good though.

Just saw blond, elven Amy Poehler from SNL by Rockefeller Center. She was wearing a light pink camisole and talking to herself—she looked totally oblivious. She's maybe five feet tall on a good day.

I saw Gywneth's baby-daddy (Chris Martin from Coldplay) and the drummer yesterday at the corner of 57th and 5th Ave. They were staring and pointing at all the tall buildings and dressed alike in hipster bomber jackets. Oddly enough, I bought an apple immediately after they walked by me.

I shared an elevator with Austin Scarlett on Monday (1/31) in the L'Oreal building on 47th and 5th. He was with two assistants, lugging large garment bags ranting, "I don't understand how they could cast models without seeing them first." He had his black rimmed glasses on but no lipstick.

One of my favorite bands, RANA, was completing a three week residency at Tribeca Rock Club tonight. After two sets, they came back with two rappers—not really their thing, but they pulled it off. Anyway, the rappers are friends with Pink and brought her to the show. She was hanging out and while they were taking the equipment down, she sat down at the drummer's kit and played for a while. It was very surreal. DJ Logic, who was playing that night took, tried to get the sound guy to turn his keyboards back on so that he could play with her, but he wouldn't do it. It was a pretty weird and unexpected sighting.

At the New Group's production of Hurlyburly last night (2/3), saw Annabella Sciorra. I guess that's pretty irrelevant except that she was inexplicably extremely beautiful, there alone, and someone from the staff said to her, "back again, Annabelle?" so she must be a fan. Tiny body, off the shoulder black shirt and radiant skin. And wearing a pair of OOPS. I mean UGGS.

Saw Mark Green on the 6 train this morning (2/4 - 23rd street). He sat down with a lap full of newspapers: the times, the post, daily news, newsday, and he was reading the New York Sun. I've always wondered who reads the Sun.

We saw Chris Connolly (MTV movie critic and talking head) at a lounge on 78th and Columbus on Thursday night. He looked pretty much the same as he did while at MTV except a lot more gray hair. He was having some drinks and laughing with a very good looking young lady.
