Sometimes we get so confused. That's because we have limited critical faculties and we believe everything we read. For instance, today we read in Liz Smith's column that:

Pornography is in bad shape these days. The red states are dead set against it. They fight it tooth and nail. The blue states are afraid of even supporting freedom of expression. So porn has gone underground again.


Convincingly said, especially, since any invocation of the red state/blue state metaphor is instantly credible to us. But we also believed Judith Regan on 60 Minutes Wednesday last month when she said:

"I believe that there is a porno-ization of the culture... What that means is that if you watch every single thing that's going on out there in the popular culture, you will see females scantily clad, implanted, dressed up like hookers, porn stars and so on. And that this is very acceptable."


So which is it, wise women of a certain age? We'll believe whichever one of you gets to us first—that is, until the other one writes with a contradictory opinion.
