Lost amid the talk of conservative columnist and "marriage expert" Maggie Gallagher taking $21,500 from the Department of Health and Human Services to promote the Bush administration's marriage initiative is another—possibly worse—act of journalistic malfeasance. Look at her goddamn columnist headshot: It's gotta be ten years old!

If you read Maggie's column in, say, The New York Post, you probably thought she was an apple-cheeked young woman with cute bangs and reactionary right-wing politics: basically, a living version of Velma Dinkley from Scooby-Doo.

Clearly, this is a lie. We can only imagine what John Podhoretz might look like right now and shudder.

For the sake of journalistic integrity, we demand that all columnists be required to update their headshots every two years from here on out.
