The other day we reprinted some of the campaign promises of outsider mayoral candidate Christopher X. Brodeur.

Today, we're receiving reports that he has been arrested. Here's an eye witness account from a reader:

Christopher X. Brodeur... the guy running for mayor that you guy's wrote about yesterday (via the NYPress article) just got pulled from his apartment building, in handcuffs, screaming and ranting, by some NYPD guys in several unmarked vans. Brodeur was coherent but very angry and screaming stuff like "...you won't let me call my roommate! You won't let me call my editor!" Etc. It seemed to be an organized effort and not something that the cops were called for. Some woman in the project building across the street kept yelling "Thank you guys! Thank you! I love you!" to the cops.

No word on what exactly happened. We'll check for news reports, but send any new info our way and we'll keep on top of this story as it develops.

Update: Man accused of harassing mayor's press office [Newsday]

Update update: Brodeur will be represented by former ACLU bigwig Norman Siegel; he will be arraigned on Saturday. The charges are two counts of aggravated harrassment and one count of harrassment. Brodeur was flushed out of the apartment for the arrest by having his electricity turned off—according to an email from Brodeur's spokesperson, Brodeur first called ConEd and they informed him "it wasn't their doing," though no independent confirmation of that has taken place yet.
