We admit that we've sort of begged out of the whole "Gay Abe Lincoln" controversy that's been raging (har har) in the media ever since the release of historian C.A. Tripp's The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln.

Frankly, we don't care if Honest Abe was gay or not. He's totally not our type: we dig dudes with sideburns, like John Quincy Adams. He can powder our wig any day!

Anyway, over at Slate, Mark Schatzker finds tons of compelling evidence of Abe Lincoln's gayness like the following:

· "He was always ... writing poetry." (Lincoln, by David Herbert Donald, Page 33)

· "Abraham Lincoln was one of those who danced." (Lincoln, Page 85)

· Lincoln to another politician: "I am six feet four without my high-heeled boots." (Lincoln, Page 251)

We also heard he subscribed to Cargo and called his mother like twice a week.
Lincoln, Gay? Of Course! [Slate]
