Such was the outpouring of Hollywood's compassion at Saturday night's telethon Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope that host Jay Leno assumed that even dead celebrities would rise from the grave to man the phones. A viewer recounts Leno's boner:

Near the very end of the show, Leno was standing in front of the stars manning the telephones, and was pointing out some who were helping..... and then he says something like "....and the great Ray Charles...." as he was looking at Stevie Wonder! He didn't even catch himself! He kept on thanking others, then they cut away.... and then the show was over. No apology or correction.

At least Leno just let it slide without waving off the mistake with "I can't tell any of those blind, piano-playing black guys apart anyway."

UPDATE: Then again, maybe Leno knew what he was doing. Another reader explains what was actually going on:

Jay Leno was referring to Jamie Foxx's portrayal of Ray Charles... his quote was "...and the great Ray Charles, Jamie Foxx." Unfortunately, Stevie Wonder happened to be a few feet away from him... only a moment later did the camera finally cut to Jamie Foxx. I was confused at first too, but it became pretty apparent pretty quickly.
