What an exciting year 2005 turned out to be. From tragedy—we mourned the devastating 2004 tsunami in Asia—to triumph—America fell in love with Aishwarya Rai, "the world's most beautiful woman"—this was truly a year to remember.

After the jump, let's take a moment to look back at the people, places, and things that touched us, moved us, and changed us most in 2005.

· Media: Brad Grey flirted with becoming head of Paramount.

· The Middle East: The war in Iraq raged on.

· Reunions: The Olsen twins reunited with John "Uncle Jesse" Stamos.

· Sports: The NHL lock-out continued.

· Passings: Shirley Chisholm, the first Black Congresswoman, died.

· Lifestyles: We went crazy for firewood.

· Politics: John Kerry made his comback.

· Animals: Sea lions learned to paint.

· Careers: Colin Powell considered taking over for Dick Clark "not a bad idea."

· Farewells: We said goodbye to Dave Barry.

· Personalities: Bill Murray made us smile.

· Trends: Pink was the new 'it' color.

· Food and Drink: We went crazy over Corazón tequila.

Wow. Is it just us, or did it seem to fly by in like three days?
