The Observer explores the impact of gossip blogs (short for web logs, by the way) on the way print gossipers do their thing and, in the process, gets Page Six editor Richard Johnson to explain why the traditional column is still king:

"People have a limited amount of time in their day," Mr. Johnson said. "And Page Six is tight and well-edited, so readers get the biggest bang for their buck."

As of press time, Jam Master Jay and Brandon Tartikoff were unavailable for comment—BECAUSE THEY'RE DEAD. Oh, we kid...because we love. Besides, tight reporting and editing is for pussies with health insurance.
