'Us Weekly': "Vee Haff Ways of Making You Talk!"
Finally, an inside look at the machinations behind those important 'exclusive' celebrity interviews in the weekly tabloids. In an effort to land the big 'gets,' cunning editors use manipulative, fiendishly clever techniques, the likes of which we haven't seen anywhere outside of CIA interrogation rooms.
According to The New York Times, Us Weekly editor Janice Min managed to secure an interview and photo shoot with Jessica Simpson and what's his name as follows:
"I said to Jessica's dad, 'Silence is keeping the story going because the reporting we have is one-sided,' ... I explained to him that nothing would be more powerful than hearing straight from Jessica."
Very clever, Ms. Min! You cracked the notoriously press-shy Joe Simpson!
And, of course, she was right. If we had just one word to describe the interview with Simpson and her friend (can't seem to recall his name at the moment), it would definitely be "powerful." Powerfully powerful.
