It's taken us 24 hours to fully process the New York Magazine Trump family cover story. (Half of that time was spent preparing ourselves to look at the photos.)

Now we're sort of scared that New York might go out of business, since as we all know, a flattering piece on Donald Trump is the kiss of death for any publication. To hear end-run SPY Magazine editor Bruno Maddox tell it, a friendly entreaty to Trump sank the beloved satirical magazine once and for all:

"When I was editor of Spy magazine... I wrote a letter to Donald Trump proposing we do a flattering profile. Twenty-four hours later the magazine was shut down."


New York, watch your back! The short-fingered hand of death may be just behind you.
