Bereft of high-profile, superstar witnesses (let's face it, the endless parade of current and former Disney executives lacks sizzle) the The Hollywood Trial of the Century hasn't been capturing the town's imagination the way it once was. But in yesterday's testimony, Disney director Gary Wilson recounted how CEO Michael Eisner asked him to take Michael Ovitz out on a "boat ride" and "talk some sense" into him.

During the trip, Wilson said, he was able to convince Ovitz that it would be better for him and the company if the former agent agreed to leave. Ovitz's departure was a "very tender subject," Wilson said. Ultimately, Ovitz "got the message" that he couldn't salvage his position at Disney, no matter how hard he worked, Wilson said.

No one but the two men know exactly what happened on that boat between "better if Ovitz agreed to leave" and Ovitz "getting the message," but we're pretty sure it involved the following three things: a very heavy chain, a harpoon gun, and the phrase, "We're miles from shore, Mike, no one will hear your cry for help."
