Jeff Zucker: From Golden Boy To Looney Tune

Pity newly embattled NBC Universal chief Jeff Zucker. His network's slow start in the ratings game has exposed him to ridicule and caused many to forget exactly why he'd ever been a programming golden boy in the first place. Recently, he had to suffer the indignity of a roaster claiming that Donald Trump's applying those pursed lips to 'Lil Zuck, and now Washington Post TV critic Tom Shales slips in a dig in a story about Lorne Michaels and SNL:
"I know that Jeff Zucker is a big fan of the show," Michaels says confidently, referring to the Elmer Fudd-like major-domo of NBC Universal.
It could have been worse, right? Elmer Fudd's got a lot more credibility than a Pepe Le Pew or Speedy Gonzalez's retarded cousin. At least Zucker's track record has afforded him enough respect that no one's suggested that he and Matt LeBlanc agreed on a Joey contract during "heated negotiations" in the back of a limo. When that happens, it might be time to finally update that resume and stop coasting on his Thursday night schedule from 2002.
