As sadly reported by E! Online, the wonderful, unhinged Nick Nolte Diary is a fake. A couple of screenwriters were behind the blog, which now is littered with disclaimers about its parodical intentions, changes no doubt fueled by a friendly note from Nolte's lawyers. The pranksters explain:

Hello gang.

You are reading this note because the Diary as it was can be no more.

At no time was the actual subject of the Diary involved in its inception, writing or production. We apologize for any deception we created. This was all intended to be wholesome entertainment and we never thought people would take it seriously for more than a moment or two. The diary got much more popular much more quickly than we had ever imagined.

Our aim here was to celebrate an individual. Never was it our intent to ridicule or deceive anyone. This site is and was a tribute to a wonderful human. For those of you who were offended, hurt or deceived, we are sorry.

This, of course, means that Nick Nolte didn't really rear-end Rosanna Arquette...at least that we know of. We can only dream about the secrets Nolte's Malibu mansion holds.
