Simon Dumenco Reveals His True Identity
Simon Dumenco's name-dropping column in Folio takes a different turn today, as he discussed the return of Popstar, a magazine from 1998 which could be considered the predecessor to the US Weeklies and In Touches of today. According to Dumenco, we're all stuck in high school:
We ve all — all of us in the magazine industry — become teenagers. Or at least we re being asked to become teenagers, thanks to forces beyond our control. I ve been mulling the magazine world s psychographic shift lately because of the recent relaunch of a publication called Popstar! [...] Unless you re a media critic or a 15-year-old girl (or, like me, both), you ve probably never heard of it.
For a 15-year-old girl, Simon Dumenco sure is ahead of his time, like Little Man Tate or something.
