BREAKING! PAGE SIX'S RICHARD JOHNSON RIDES SUBWAY, READS DAILY NEWS' LLOYD GROVE! From a reader comes a stunning description of the man behind the myth:

On the uptown V yesterday, I was surprised to see "Page Six" capo Richard Johnson training it, just like a common man — I guess those Post circulation increases haven't yet trickled down into car service privileges. Johnson was wearing a gray pinstripe suit (with, yuck, a brown webbed belt), had his hair matted to his head, like one of those vintage "GQ Regrets" photos, and was focusing intently on the tabloid he was reading, the front page of which he'd coyly folded over. Just before my stop, I peered over his shoulder, and saw that he was studying Lloyd Grove's column in the Daily News. That seems to be what they call "looking for sources" at the Post.

Let's call this one "developing."
