Alex Trebek And The Champ: A Jeopardy! Love Affair

In her (sort-of-but-not-really) TV blog, Slate critic Dana Stevens writes on the burgeoning love affair between Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek and all-time super-champion/Mormon quiz-show idol Ken Jennings. A couple of more victories and someone's going to have to turn a hose on the two of them:
Things are getting strange on the Jeopardy! set. As Jennings' winning streak drags on, little rituals between Ken and Alex are emerging; the two riff and joke with the punch-drunk loopiness of two undergraduates pulling an all-nighter. Perhaps out of sheer boredom, Ken has taken to signing his name in creative ways on the blue screen below his podium: in big pillowy letters, surrounded by zigzags, or carved into the shape of a skyline.
Hmm, maybe they're playing around like punch-drunk undergrads who tumble into a dorm bed after the sexual tension from one too many late-night cram sessions becomes unbearable. The champ doodling his name in front of Trebek? So precious. Look for the name-scribbling to morph into Mr. Ken Trebek...Mr. Ken Jennings-Trebek...Mr. Ken Jenbek after win 35. We can't say for sure, but after spending 30 straight shows together, Jennings and Trebek might actually be married according to California law—making their televised, coy courtship even more special. If you thought the winning streak was great for ratings, just see what happens if Alex and Ken "make it official" on-air.
