New York Magazine's (and Gawker alum) Elizabeth Spiers finally weighs in with the expert analysis we've been waiting for about Vanity Fair's Graydon Carter and his mistress, Hollywood.

"In fact, the most interesting thing about Graydon-gate, is that the defenses may be more damaging than the indictment...If Carter doesn't want to be taken seriously as a journalist, this presumably isn't a problem...If this thing blows over, I guess we can all assume that Vanity Fair has no journalistic credibility, as no one seems particularly outraged or surprised. If it doesn't blow over, it's going to be painful for Carter, but at least it indicates that people expect better of him and better of the magazine."

Hey Jack Shafer, I think she's calling your defenses "pretty shitty."
