Very interesting. Perhaps this explains the disappointing star turnout for the VF Tribeca Film Fest party last Tuesday (May 4). We and a thousand other journalists were there salivating, expecting a Hollywood A-list of, at the very least, whoever was in NYC at the time. But no Nicole, Sean, Will Smith, etc. Not even Brad Pitt, who was in town around that time, and someone said is on VF's cover(?)

Other than De Niro and the Olsen twins, whose movie premiere was that same afternoon, followed by a Letterman appearance, top name celebs were conspicuously absent.

Power brokers were there - Diller, Richard Meier, Sumner Redstone, LA Reid, Donna Karan - but star wattage was of the Sandra Bernhard/Peter Gallagher/Edie Falco level.

Most weird of all, there was no tip sheet - a concise press release that publicists give out at events so journos have the facts on what, when, where, who, etc. We asked Rubenstein (TFF PR firm) who would be attending, and they didn't even know. "This is Vanity Fair's list. We have a sheet on the food and decor."

Never seen that before at any big event. We saw why as the B-listers trundled up to the courthouse where the party was held. That's why the Times could only write about how their reporter got kicked out. Nothing much to report. We were all set to rush back and file a report after the party, but went for beers instead.
