Fairchild Publications is battening down the hatches for tomorrow at noon: tens of thousands — no wait, hundreds of thousands — of torch-wielding enraged Asians (but not the gays, they're preoccupied with other things) are turning out to protest the recent Details Gay or Asian feature. As always, we can only hope for bloodshed in the streets.

Fairchild is taking this "very seriously." It's easy to get everyone riled when something's called (or, you know, actually is) racist, but we're looking forward to the upcoming Mensa demonstration when it's decided that the current crop of magazines are merely offensively stupid.

Group To Protest In Front of 7 West 34th Street on Friday

Please be advised that a non-profit group, Asian Media Watchdog, has received a permit from the NYPD for a protest tomorrow, Friday, April 16, in front of 7 West 34th Street. The protest is scheduled to be held between 12 noon and 1p.m. The group is protesting an editorial feature that ran in the April issue of Details. The company takes this matter very seriously and we are working towards a positive resolution. Details Editor-in-Chief Dan Peres today issued a statement of deep regret for the article.

The police department will place barricades in front of our building on Friday morning to create an area where the protesters are permitted to congregate. The police will be present, and will not allow protesters to block access to the
building. As always, lobby security will request ID to gain access to the building. Please make sure you carry your ID card.
