Deborah Needleman Chosen as Editor-in-Chief For New Conde Nast Magazine
Deborah Needleman, an Editor-at-Large at House & Garden, has been named Editor-in-Chief of the new home-focused version of the shopping magazines Lucky and Cargo that Conde Nast Publications is developing, it was announced today by James Truman, Editorial Director of the company. Ms. Needleman begins immediately and will be based at the Conde Nast Building in New York. The magazine s production schedule will be announced later, but it is expected to launch in mid-2005.
Ms. Needleman has been Editor-at-Large for House & Garden since 1998, writing about garden design, architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design. She originally joined the staff of the magazine as Photography Editor for its relaunch in 1996.
Ms. Needleman began her career in publishing at The Washington Post, where she was Photography Editor for the Sunday magazine from 1988 to 1993. In 1994, she became Photo Editor of Men s Journal. Her work has also appeared in Slate, where she wrote "The Cranky Gardener" column, The New York Times, Horticulture, and Lucky. She lives in TriBeCa with her husband and two children.
Conde Nast Publications, Inc., currently publishes eighteen magazines. It is a subsidiary of the Advance Magazine Group, which includes Cond Nast Publications, Fairchild Publications, Golf Digest Companies, Parade Publications, and the Shared Services Center in Delaware.
