Worst Press Release of the Week: Lollapalooza
The lineup for the ninth Lollapalooza has been announced — as has the accompanying magazine/"collector's guide" — but not before creator Perry Farrell smoked up some hash and issued a statement: "The theme of the magazine, like this year s festival, will embody the spirit of solar gypsies on a traveling caravan." Wait, seriously, dude? Because that was my New Year's Resolution, to embody the spirit of solar gypsies. Sweet. The caravan is totally optional, but what the hell.

Lollapalooza Magazine Issue #2 Available July 14th
The Lollapalooza Festival — the archetype for combining youth culture in music, art, fashion, technology and politics — pioneered the modern music festival and will bring back the same passion, inspiration and over the top inventiveness once again to Lollapalooza Magazine Issue #2, the collector s guide to the Lollapalooza experience. Lollapalooza Magazine will re-launch July 14th as the tour kicks off and will be sold exclusively at the festival (close to half a million attendees projected on 30+ dates). As announced earlier, this year s line up will include Morrissey, The Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, Polyphonic Spree, Sonic Youth and The String Cheese Incident amongst others to be announced at a later date.
Lollapalooza Magazine has been designed to not only guide concertgoers through the festival s many facets, but to imaginatively entertain and educate readers. To wit, last year s Lollapalooza Magazine included everything from a delectable fashion shoot with Paris and Nicky Hilton dressed as past performers of the tour to think pieces on nano-technology and an in-depth piece on domestic and foreign affairs with System Of A Down s Serj Tankian and Audioslave s Tom Morrello.
Perry Farrell, Jane s Addiction front man and Lollapalooza creator, remarks, The theme of the magazine, like this year s festival, will embody the spirit of solar gypsies on a traveling caravan. This theme will be presented through our traditional coverage of youth culture and trends: music, art, fashion, technology and politics.
Limited promotional copies of Lollapalooza Issue #1 are available to new and returning participants. If you d like further info on the magazine, media kits will be made available upon request.
