Trimming the Star
A reader writes in with an unverified report from tabloid-land:
On March 2, two top-of-the-masthead editors got fired at the Star. Jeff Samuels, the "news director," formerly of the Globe (sigh), who's only been here a month. And, Jeannie Williams, "editor," formerly of USA Today. Looks like the unsavvy businessmen at AMI finally realized they could save money by trimming the top of the masthead. No word yet on the official reasons given to the two for their unceremonius departure.
