In this edition: Janeane Garofalo and David Schwimmer, Jerry Stiller, Billy Crudup and Claire Danes, Monica Lewinsky, Ian Holm, Dave Matthews, Dave Grohl, Benjy from Good Charlotte, Sean Penn fleeing the Golden Globes, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgewick take a cab, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgewick take the subway, Cynthia Nixon filming in Brooklyn, and Vincent Gallo.

· Tuesday, February 3, 1:30 pm — Janeane Garofalo and David Schwimmer, standing outside olives on prince street in the rain (sans umbrella) deliberating over who would stand in line to get food. both in hats, jeans and nondescript coats trying to pull off the i'm-not-famous-don't-look-at-me stance.

· I was at Bill Irwin's new vaudeville piece, the Regard Evening, on Sunday, and during the intermission, I passed by George's and Ben's dad, Jerry Stiller. Then when I got back into my seat, I saw that he had claimed the empty seat in the front row, all the way on the right side. Now, this seat during the first act was occupied by an actor playing a theater critic who interrogated Irwin, so I spent three minutes whether Stiller would join the action onstage or be shoed by an usher, but neither one happen. He spent a little time before the curtain went up talking animatedly with the people next to him on the aisle.
· Billy Crudup and Claire Danes visiting galleries on 72nd between 5th and Park this weekend. They didn't buy anything.
· Saw Monica Lewinsky exiting the conde nast building this morning (2/3) with a goofy smile on her face. she was wearing bright red lipstick and was not as tall as i would have thought she'd be. looked like she was headed out toward broadway — perhaps to take the 2/3 up to harlem?
· Ian Holm, disgruntled and preoccupied Saturday for lunch at Bottino, looking more like the character he played in The Sweet Hereafter than himself. Sat down in the very back, with a lady d'une certain age... Is he taller than he seems on celluloid—bigger than life?—or is it just that silly hobbit business that's tainted him now...
· I was walking past The Peninsula today (Monday 02/02) around 2pm and saw Dave Mathews. I was surprised to see him unloading (presumably) his own luggage out of the back of a large black truck, looked to be a GMC Yukon. He s a pretty large guy; handsome face, quiet demeanor. Dave was wearing jeans and a dark shearling or suede coat. It was refreshing to see a true musician not caught up in his celebrity as opposed to the shitfest I witnessed on the Superbowl halftime show .
· Two sightings at last week's Niagara Wednesday Nite Drink Social: Around 11pm Dave Grohl rolled in with a dozen hairy metalhead-looking dudes. People said it was the guys from his side project, some metal band. He hung out right at the bar, and didn't mind the occasional fan who walked up to say hello. He actually seemed to like it and was very chit-chatty. About an hour later, Benjy from Good Charlotte came in to the bar, in full Halloween-costume and makeup (oh wait, that is how he always dresses, I guess), with a BODYGUARD. Benjy was hard to keep an eye on because he is so short and fat. Unlike Dave, no one seemed the least bit interested in Benjy. He could have saved some money and let his bodyguard have the night off!
· Sean Penn on a flight from LAX to NY the morning after he blew off the Golden Globes (and obviously in LA and the only winner not to show up). I think I see an Oscar in Bill Murray's future.
· On my way to the subway this morning on the Upper West Side, I saw Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgewick waiting outside their apartment building while their doormen hailed a cab for them. I've seen them on many occassions since they live so close to my apartment and have been known to take the subway, but this was the first time I've seen them together. They are both much taller and better looking than they appear in the movies. Kevin especially is very, very cute-he had shaggy hair and was wearing sunglasses, while Kyra looked liked she was afraid of being recognized. I guess this is my zero degrees of Kevin Bacon!
· Last week: 9 am at the 86th street B/C stop, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick. He was in tight flared jeans, a knit cap, and sunglasses; she was wearing a plaid wool jacket and pulled the hood over her head when she realized people were recognizing her. She is even skinnier than him.
· This morning, I saw Cynthia Nixon running across Dekalb Avenue (near Vanderbilt) in Ft. Greene, Brooklyn, screaming "Gary! Gary!" at the top of her lungs. I suppose SATC is filming scenes of her new life across the East River. She was rocking a bright red peacoat and jeans, and looked hot and spunky—I'd totally do her. Of interest, too, were the extras walking down Dekalb to provide a bit of street flavor. Not a single black person among them, and Brooklyn without black people is like an ice cream sundae without...ice cream. It just isn't.
· i was having lunch the other day around 3 at Cafe Lebowitz on Spring next to me was Vincent Gallo going over plans with some architect. i thought it was for an apartment, but he said something about there not being enough room for a stage, who knows. he did invite the middle ages architect to his movie, but told him not to bring his wife.
