Doesn't Anybody Love a Cynic?
Completely without commentary, I would like to draw your attention to an open letter from Radar editor Maer Roshan to Colors editor Simon Dumenco. The bone of contention: Dumenco's awarding of a "Tina Brown Memorial 'Buzzie' Award" to Roshan and Radar. From Roshan's letter:
At a moment in our industry when innovation is rare and corporations are increasingly risk averse, Radar was created by a talented team of people who spurned big paychecks and corporate perks to create a magazine they believed in. For that reason alone, they deserve better than facile gibes from critics sitting smugly on the sidelines. "Nobody loves a cynic," Oscar Wilde once despaired, a truism that my pal Simon may come to appreciate when its time to show his Colors.
