2004: The Year of Gear
The Times does the men's shopping mag roundup. Cargo's editor, Ariel Foxman, says they want to get beyond the metrosexual market and sell "technology, cars, and gear as well."
Gear. Gear gear gear. Technically, "gear" encompasses everything from wetsuits to polo pants to belts to athletic shoes to GPS locators to luggage — but, see, it's cooler because they call it "gear." It sounds a little hip-hop and a little British — kind of like Madonna. Prediction number one: we're gonna hear about men's gear alllll year long: it's the new manly post-metrosexuality.
