A long-brewing slap-fest between Topic A host Tina Brown and New York mag columnist Michael Wolff has escalated to DEFCON 3.

Various jabs and grudging compliments have always been paid by one to the other — back in November, 2002, Wolff called Tina "stylish and crass." (Surely a high compliment from him.) Back in October, Tina Brown cattily said of Wolff that "his book is a snooze."

This morning on C-SPAN's Washington Journal, Wolff took things a step farther. Surely thinking of Tina Brown's plan to take her quarterly cable show Topic A weekly in January, he said "On cable, if you're on once a week, you don't exist." Once a week talkshows "aren't in the game," he said knowingly. Yay! Fight, fight!
