Power Punk'd: Manhattan's Top 50 Youngsters
In its breathless turgid pink fashion, the New York Observer names the 50 Manhattan youngsters it believes are taking over the City. No lack of hype here: "Fifty Power Punks under 35, each staking a claim to the city s future, inheritors of the grid."
There are some delicious juxtapositions: Vogue editor Anna Wintour's daughter Bee Shaffer is listed next to Wintour-bashing Devil Wears Prada author Lauren Weisberger. There are some usual suspects — oh Lachlan Murdoch, fashion boy Zac Posen, and some folks to take note of — nanotech investor Josh Wolfe and TV schemer Joshua Long.
Of course Gawker will be tracking this Committee of Fifty, alert for every mistep and criminal charge, every foodfight, every trip to rehab at the Caron Foundation. Just like a fresh TV season, we're going to love seeing who goes prime time and who gets totally cancelled.
[Disc.: Yeah yeah, I have a small piece in this issue. So sue me: I needed some new winter shoes.]
