The Print Lag
Soon enough, today's print news will just be a roundup of yesterday's internet news. Of course, sometimes the day-late syndrome allows print media to do little things like confirmation, and even sometimes this thing called "reporting." At the very least, the print lag gives everyone time to recant what they said.
Today's roundup of enjoyable bits:
PR Whitewash: Yesterday we reported about Marcie Bloom's hatred of harvey Weinstein. Today, on behalf of Marcie Bloom (the former co-president of Sony Pictures Classics), her previous employer says "She is very sorry." [NY Daily News]
Confirmation: Lloyd Grove on Matt Drudge's printing of an anti-Bush email from "Hollywood liberal" Laurie David... which apparently wasn't written by Ms. David. [NY Daily News, quite different version at NY Post]
Spin: The print lag gives the NY Sun time for Abercrombie & Fitch to claim that they pulled their winter catalogue from their stores because they have to "make way for our new fragrance." Uh huh. [NY Sun]
