Never let it be said that we can't take great technology and bend it to the tackiest purpose possible. Turns out there's a very interesting side effect of placing ads on Google.

Google's ads are keyword targeted. To explain: if one was to purchase an ad with the keyword "Anna Wintour," the purchaser will learn how many times that ad was displayed. This number will correlate to the total number of times Google users have searched for "Anna Wintour." The logical extension for us shallow-minded folk: popularity contest!

The following report is ranked from most to least popular as a search term over the last seven days, followed by the number of times our ads appeared for those searches so that you can get a sense of popularity discrepancy. Here, for the first time, our Google Popularity Index.
