· Saw Anna Wintour at the U.S. Open last night, sitting in the USTA President s Box with her daughter wearing those ubiquitous sun glasses for a nighttime tennis match. She left her seat in the middle of the match to introduce her daughter to Kim Catrall, who was sitting in a different box; hopefully not to discuss the teabag discussion from last week s Sex and the City.
· nicole kidman with an entourage consisting of two men and three women at schiller's (keith mcnally's new LES joint) on saturday night. Nicole had her hair up and was, inexplicably, wearing three layers of clothing.

· If Terrence Stamp had any reason to be in The Time-Life building lobby (a visit to EW or People?), then I just saw and I am pretty sure it was him, what with the piercing eyes, sexy, worldly older man thing that was going on. He (or a very good imposter) has sent me into a Cool Britannia tizzy!
· last night, 08/25, around 8pm: janice combs on the corner of 8th st. and b'way, walking west. wearing some kind of red velour sweatsuit and looking way too old for it. no make-up w/ serious dark circles and bags under the eyes. w/ younger female, similarily suited, who, also, was not too cute. cute, however, only begins to describe the male escort/handler type person with them. wearing loose white button down and jeans, that man was fine.
· [Rocco DiSpirito] leaving the nbc studios on 48th st on monday night trying to look very important and serious. just looked like a muppet instead in a very bad stripped shirt. on his way to some sort of cooking display in the outside area.
· I just saw Gilbert Gottfried at the intersection of Allen and Delancy. He looked out of his depth (read: ultra whiteboy) among all the families hauling big shopping bags from nearby 99 cent stores. Also, he was wearing very short shorts — stubby, pasty legs not a pretty sight.
· At Saturday night's performance of Long Day's Journey, saw Carol Kane in the simplest of black potato sacks and really cute glasses. Also present was Michael Pitt in ripped up baggy jeans and, gasp, a trucker hat. Clearly he readeth Gawker not.
· East Hampton stalker...on Saturday night at the premiere/party for "Pieces of April" (screening was at the UA theaters on Main St. in East Hampton, party was down the street at Laundry), I spotted Patricia Clarkson, Derek Luke, Oliver Platt, the film's director Peter Hedges, MGM head Chris McGurk, UA chief Bingham Ray, actor Bob Balaban, writer Kenneth Lonnergan, and Denise Kasell and Rajendra Roy from the Hamptons Film Festival. I heard that Paul McCartney was also at the theater, but I didn't see him. It was a fun event with Krispy Kreme donuts hanging from the trees.
· Sunday, August 24th Moby, a beautiful girl and a pug at the 26th Street Flea Market. He wasn't in disguise or anything, but seemed to go unrecognized. The girl would seem to be out of his league.
· I saw a man who might have been Mr. Woodman from *Welcome Back, Kotter* crossing Varick at Houston the other day. He was very stooped and wore a minty green sportcoat. the same minty green as te bedspead I slept under from age 4 to 6.
· A pregnant Christy Turlington and Ed Burns on the beach in Amagansett on Saturday until they were scared off by some noisy beach olympics.
· SNL's Rachel Dratch reading the cover article of the Sunday New York Times Magazine on a downtown B train. Matt Dillion at Columbus and 85th St. stocking up on take-out cartons of that "Lolicious" brand fake ice cream
· Anne Bancroft and Mel Brooks using a cart buying produce and candy at Schmidt's Produce, North Sea Road, Southampton. Mel wearing FDNY shirt, orange EH [East Hampton] hat (not trucker), and those SUPER-LARGE south Florida black sunglasses that go over regular glasses. wow. Joking about melons and thanking the owner for getting his favorite chocolate bar.
· david spade in front of the lincoln square movie theatre on the upper west side on sunday. looks exactly the same as he does on tv. theatre wasn't open yet and he was standing in the middle of the sidewalk in front with a friend, almost as if he was waiting for people to recognize him.
· Saw Adrien Brody in Pebble Beach at a car show very grandly entitled the Concours d'Elegance. He was standing in front of the Lodge looking a little lost. Wouldn't have noticed him except that his haircut and hipster attire made him conspicuous in the blue-blazer-and-rep-tie crowd.
· The "Grooming Guy" from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy walking down 14th street near 6th avenue on Sunday. Wearing some vintage rock t-shirt and a very heavy 5oclock shadow. And the required sunglasses.
· Indian Larry spotted at the dog run in Thompkins Square Park during Howl! yesterday at 5:30-ish, reading the Times. I'm not sure if he was there with a dog or if he was in there because all the other park benches were full for the jazz fest. I know he's not a typical celeb, but he's still pretty famous.
· last evening, around 5:30, i spied britney spears walking down 7th avenue south wearing a red hat and a jacket that said "belgie". her mom was with her.
· I bumped into Mike Gordon, bassist of Phish, at the Howl Festival in Tompkins Square Park on Sunday. He looked strange as always, accompanied by a very plain-looking 30-something woman. No underage girls anywhere in sight ...
· I saw Ryan Adams and Parker Posey at the Jesse Malin show at the Bowery Ballroom on Sunday night. Ryan joined Jesse onstage for about half the show.
· Rev Run (Joseph Simmons), idling in his Bentley on Friday outside of Arnell Groups SoHo HQ. Was working the 2-way in the vback seat (or maybe playing a videogame.)
· thats former (?) MTV VJ JOHN NORRIS coked up at the COCK sans shirt in and out of the bathroom and if you can believe it: being semi mobbed by "fans".
· I saw David Byrne sitting outside Balthazar eating a sandwich with a dark haired woman with a ponytail. David had white/gray hair blue overalls and a white shirt. Other than the hair, he could been back on stage in Stop Making Sense. She could have been Italian or Brazilian - but couldn't place the face. They were haing a great time.
· Spotted Thom Yorke with a wee bloke with a very English haircut, maybe the bassist or guitarist, walking out of Ichabod's book store on south broadway. They were both carrying several bags. I caught them on the tail end of a south broadway shopping spree. Yorke's winky eye, distinctive spiky hair and diminutive stature was a dead give away. Not to mention the moon glow of their pasty English skin. Even so-bway hipsters have tans in Denver. I drove over to their side of b-way. I wasn't trying to run them over. I just wanted to smell 'em. They were in the cab directly behind me slouching in their seats. Why weren't rockers of their magnitude wearing sunglasses? I thought slamming on the brakes of my car to make their cab driver rear end me, then I'd jump out, force my way into the cab and hug the tiny rockers in the back seat or at least plant a lipsticky kiss on their cheeks. I thought better of it and drove on to my meeting to study vodka. Yeah, I get paid to study vodka.
